What’s PAX Unplugged?
On January 27th, in the midst of PAX South, the renowned Penny Arcade and ReedPOP announced a new convention coming this fall called “PAX Unplugged“. PAX Unplugged will be focused on tabletop gaming as opposed to video games, and is set to occur November 17th-19th, 2017 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. This event will be the sixth addition to the international chain of PAX events; it’ll be interesting to tell how well the convention is received.
Although there’s a large focus on tabletop gaming, PAX Unplugged will be pulling out all the stops to make this convention just as successful and fun as the others, including the chance to attend panels with members of the industry, a chance to play upcoming games before release, a way to attend music inspired concerts, and much more!
“With the rise of popularity of board games, we wanted to provide a dedicated space where fans can come together,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder, Penny Arcade. “We will continue to have tabletop games at every PAX, but Unplugged will focus on stepping away from the TV, monitor and phone to foster face-to-face multiplayer experiences.”
We’ve found that the Tabletop parts of PAX have grown and grown to the point where we said, “You know what? Let’s just make a show that’s just that.”
